Present: Commissioners Wigden, Slattery, Laskowitz, Nelson, Biddie, Chief Signer,
Common Council Liaison Coles.,staff, Nancy Falconer.
Excused: Commissioners Flannery, Passmore;
1. Approval of minutes of May 25, 2007 : Moved by Laskowitz, second by Slattery,
approved unanimously.
2. No Public was Present.
3. Common Council Report:
Councilperson Coles reported that Common Council has voted to supply any salary
part missing that a IPD officer who is called back for armed service would be paid
if still working at Ithaca.
4. Report from the Police Department:
a) Chief reported that CU is bringing a high security risk Iraqi judge into its Law
Department. Discussion followed.
5. Old Business:
Commissioner Nelson announced his resignation after thirteen years on this board,
and his probable move to Kentucky. Councilperson Coles read a citation by the
Mayor for his service to the public in this and other ways. A unanimous vote by the
Board members allowed him to keep his Commissioners' badge as a token of his
service.
6.New Business
Chair inquired about attending the NACOLE national conference to be held in
San Jose this Fall. Board members agreed that he could very likely bring back
valuable information for this board, and agreed that he should attend if possible.
7. Motion Made to Adiourn to Executive Session to Discuss Investigations• by
Laskowitz
8. Motion to Return to Public Session and Report Results Two new complaints
were read and assigned. Four other cases were discussed and voted on:
1. Founded: Voted closed. Unanimously
2. Voted closed because of complainant's inability to meet except at night.
3. Carried over to next month; Commissioner absent who handled it.
4. Carried over to next month. Investigation incomplete.
