ITHACA COMMUNITY POLICE BOARD MEETING DRAFT
MINUTES: Ithaca Community Police Board
PLACE: Third floor Common Council Chambers, City hall, 108 East Green Street,
TIME/DATE: April 26, 2007 @ 3:30 pm
Present: Commissioners Wigden, Slattery, Laskowitz, Kerry Flannigan, Chief Lauren
Signer, Deputy Chief Vallely, Staff, N. Falconer. Guest: Bird Magruder, guest
Councilperson Maria Coles. Absent, Herb Nelson, Chavonte Perkins, .Ron Passmore.
The meeting was called to order at 3:30 pm.
1. Approval of minutes of March 22, 2006 Q
Motion made by B. Wigden, seconded by Jonathan. Laskowitz. Minutes werAW Q1
approved unanimously.
2. Comments by the Public?
No one from the public was present. fi
3. Report from Common Council
Councilperson Coles reported there is some discussion about running a late T -Cat bus
for students returning home after bar closings on Senior night at Ithaca College. The IPD
is handling South Hill Senior week and Cornell is hiring extra police force for their
Slope and other Senior Days.
4. Report From Police Department
Court TV is in town, filming for their show.
Several rescues have occurred by IPD staff, Officers Ducey, and Norman, and Dana Haff
last Fall rescued a man in a car accident who would have burned .
5. Old Business
Business Staff requested that Board members restart the procedure of writing up the
results of their investigations, as this has lapsed in the last several months,.
6. New Business: Check on the status of current members who are leaving the Board
and the search for new recruits.
T. Motion to Adiourn to Executive session To Discuss Results of Current
Investigations:
Motion by Laskowitz and second by Flannigan_
8. Return to Public Session, Report on Findings and Adiournment
Progress on three complaints being investigated were discussed and one new complaint
was assi9gned.
1.This investigation is voted closed with a written letter to be sent to the complainant
because of his continued no- shows at meetings he agreed to come to with the
commissioner. Vote was unanimous
2. This complaint was voted founded. Vote was unanimous.
3. This investigation is being carried over to next month for one more meeting that needs
to be held. Vote unanimous.
4. This complaint is new and was assigned for investigation.
