HomeMy WebLinkAboutMN-CPB-2006-08-24ITHACA COMMUNITY POLICE BOARD MEETING DRAFT M INUTES: Ithaca Community Police Board PLACE: Common Council Chambers, 3rd floor, City Hall, 108 East Green Street, Ithaca TIME / DATE August 24, 2006 at 3:30 p.m. PRESENT: Commissioners Laskowitz, Whispell, Flannery, Hill, Passmore, Perkins, Wigden Nancy Falconer, staff. Absent: Chief Lauren Signer, Excused; Slattery, Nelson and Council Liaison Coles. The meeting was called to order at 3:30 PM. 1. Approval of Minutes of July 27, 2006 . Moved by Jon Laskowitz and second by Flannery. Minutes were approved unanimously. 2. Comments by Public No one from the public was in attendance. 3. Report From Common Council Common Council was not present. 4. Report From the Police Department No one was present to report 5. Old Business a) Chair Wigden will be interviewed onWHCU on August 25`h at 8:45 am and will discuss the goals and process of the CPB. b) Ron Passmore is writing the articles for the Times and Journal. 6. New Business a) K. Flannery brought up a question about the wording on the complaint sheet, and suggested a change to include the statement that the information will be shown to the officer who is the subject of the complaint. This is intended to clarify that the complaint cannot be anonymous, as some complainants have suggested. 7. Adiournment to Executive Session, to discuss open investigations and assign new cases. Motion made by Commissioner Laskowitz, second by Passmore. Five cases were discussed. 1) This complaint is still in process as the complainant is out of town. 2) Complaint held over because complainant made appointment with investigator but did not show up. Staff requested to write and ask for response by 09/12/06 as to whether complainant wishes to continue. 3) New case assigned. 4) New case assigned. 5) Complainant investigation is not complete, carry over to next month. 8. Return to public session, adiourn
