MINUTES: Ithaca Community Police Board
PLACE: 2 °d floor conference room, City hall, 108 East Green Street, Ithaca, N.Y.
TIME/DATE: March 23, 2006 @ 3:30 pm
Present: Commissioners Wigden, Slattery, Laskowitz, Whispell, Perkins, Nelson,
Satome Hill, Chief Lauren Signer, Deputy Chief Curatolo, Deputy Chief Ed Valley, Staff, N.
Falconer.
Excused: Commissioner Passmore, Absent, Kerry Flannery.
The meeting was called to order at 3:30 pm.
1. Approval of minutes of February 23, 2006
Motion made by D. Slattery, seconded by D. Whispell. Minutes were apps
unanimously.
2. Comments by the Public
No one from the public was present.
3. Report from Common Council
Councilperson Coles reported on the plans for warning students about noise and
drinking violations for the upcoming Spring parties.
4. Report From Police Department
a) Discussion of plans for controlling Spring parties and police coverage.
b)The new police contract with the union was passed.
5. Old Business
a) New Methods of outreach: tabled. Chair will meet with committee to discuss and
report back.
b) Tabling at Ithaca Festival : methods discussed.
6. New Business
a) New Taxi denial appeal received. It was decided to schedule the hearing for next
month; April 27 after a short business meeting.
b) Chevante Perkins reported that a group of youngsters from the high school would like
To attend a meeting to discuss some issues with the Board.
c)Voted unanimously by the members that Maria Coles is invited to attend the Executive
sessions of the Board , unless a particular meeting has an aspect which would pose a
conflict of interest.
7.Adiournment
No new complaints :.have been received, therefore Executive session was cancelled.
Motion made to adjourn by J. Laskowitz, second by Herb Nelson.
