HomeMy WebLinkAboutMN-CPB-2005-10-274 ITHACA COMMUNITY POLICE BOARD MEETING draft draft draft MINUTES: Ithaca Community Police Board PLACE: Common Council Chambers, third floor, City Hall, 108 East Green St. TIME/DATE: October 27, , 2005 at 3:30 pm PRESENT: Commissioners Laskowitz, Slattery, Whispell, Flannery, Wigden, Chief Lauren Signer; Nancy Falconer, Staff. Excused: Nelson, Passmore, Hill. Guest: Maria Coles, Common Council. Absent, Gayraud Townsend (CC Council Liaison.) 1. Approval of Minutes of September 22, 2005: Motion made by Dan Slattery and second by Dan Whispell. Approved unanimously. 2.Report from Common Council: Councilperson Coles reported that an increase for the police department was approved by Common Council for 2006. Budget for CPD was approved at the same level as last year or 10,000. 3. Report from the Police Dept: Chief Signer reported that two television programs have chosen Ithaca for the subject of their shows in November. America's Most Wanted will feature the hunt for a local fugitive. The recruitment team have all graduated and will begin work in a week. Eight of nine spaces have been filled . 4. Old Business: a)Polo shirts for Board members were handed out with CPB logo. b) Maria Coles reported a large and ongoing objection on the part of students to the arrest policy and clamp down on noise and raucous parties. They continue to bring the issue before Common Council. Discussion followed. 5.New Business: The date for the meeting of the Board has been changed for November as conflicts with Thanksgiving. Return to Public Session to report on Decisions: �. Three investigations were discussed: 1. A letter will be written to give a time limit for response from Complainant before closing ( December 30.) 2. One new case assigned to Flannery and new Youth member will be involved.. 3. A third investigation: Board has had no response to our attempts to reach him and this will be closed . Unanimous vote.
