Ar'E:CITY HALL, 108 EAST GREEN STREET, Common Council Chambers Present: Conmmissioners Wigden, Laskowitz, Slattery, Passmore, Nelson, Flannery. Chief Lauren Signer, Deputy Chief Coratolo, CC member Michael Taylor. Staff, Nancy Falconer. Guests JR Claiborne, Chavante Perkins. Excused: Satome Hill and Daniel Whispell. Absent, Gayraud Townsend. Meeting was called at 3:36 p.m 1. June 22, 2005 minutes were accepted unanimously; moved by Slattery and second by Herb Nelson. 2. Comments from the Public: Visitors Claiborne and Perkins came to the meeting briefly to discuss Chavante Perkins' interest in the empty youth position on the Board. She stated she will apply to the Mayor for the position. 3. Report from Common Council! a). Michael Taylor, CC member, substituted for Gayraud Townsend who could not attend. b) He stated that the Community Services Committee will continue to ask for CPB input to the committee. 4.Report from Police Department: a)The Chief read excerpts from the Taser report, and said that two more staff will be trainer' to use the tasers. b) Two officers have been hired to fill some of the vacancies (five open.) 5.Old Business- a) Discussion of tabling cancellation at Southside Juneteenth because of inability to get into GIAC for materials. b) Board members approved the budget presented by Staff. c) Discussion of handouts on 'Procedures for CPB Investigations' Board decided that if appears necessary because of a complainant's absence for several months, it would be oroceduraliv correct to ask complainant's permission to interview the officer(s) involved before seeing the complainant. 7. New Business: a) Staff reported she will be on vacation at the time of the next meeting, asked for volunteers to take the minutes. Commissioner Flannigan volunteered. 8.) Adjournment to Executive Session: Motion by D. Slattery, second by J. Laskowitz_ 9) Return to Public Session. Report on Investigations. Five were discussed: a) Four Investigations completed and closed. 1) Voted as founded: Passmore ,Laskowitz,Slattery,Wigden Flannery. Nelson_ Nelson. unfounded: None. Abstentions: none 2. Two voted as conciliated: Passmore,Laskowitz,Slattery, Wigden, Nelson. 3) Voted to carry forward; uncompleted: Passmore,Laskowitz,Slattery, Wigden, Founded: None. Unfounded: none. Abstentions: none 4) Voted to close; lack of response from taxi appeal. Passmore,Laskowitz,Slattery, Flanner_v,Wigden, Nelson. 5) Investigation incomplete: Carried forward. Meeting adiourned
