MINUTES: Ithaca Community Police Board
PLACE: Common Council Chambers, 3 d floor, City Hall, 108 East Green Street, Ithaca
TIME / DATE: May 26, 2005 at 3:30 p.m.
PRESENT: Commissioners Wigden, Laskowitz, Slattery, Whispell, Nelson, Flannery, Hill, Passmore
Chief Lauren Signer, Deputy Chief Curatolo, Nancy Falconer, staff. Absent: Gayraud Townsend, Council
Liaison.
The meeting was called to order at 3:30 PM.
1. Approval of Minutes of April 28, 2004
Approval to accept minutes by Dan Slattery, second by Whispell. The minutes werly

No one from the public was present to speak. 3. Report From Common Council F�cr
Common Council was not present.
4. Report From the Police Department — w-L4-.39-�
a) Deputy Chief Curatolo reported that a taxi license had been denied based on a long list of infractions or
violations the Dept. had in a record. A request for an appeal was received from the petitioner and a hearing was
set for June 9 at 3:30 in Chambers. (The time was later changed to 4 pm.)
b) Four officers were promoted to sergeant in the Police Department recently.
c) A celebration party was held today on the Commons, and the new Beetle autos belonging to the Police Dept.
were displayed.
d) Senior week went fairly quietly until Wednesday night when parties broke out more frequently.
e) Report on the bomb found at Walmart last week: It was a real bomb, although it did not explode and no one was
hurt.
5. Old Business
a) Tabling at GIAC will be discussed at the June 91h hearing.
6. New Business
a) Commissioner Wigden reported on his report to Common Council Governance Committee, and showed
handouts of the cases handled over the past few years.
7. Adjournment to Executive Session , to discuss open investigations. Motion made by Commissioner Laskowitz.
second by Slattery. Two cases were discussed.
I ) Has been left message but has not returned call to Commissioner. Investigation not complete; hold open.
2) Has not returned Commissioner's call to finalize investigation. Hold open one more month.
Meeting adjourned.
