HomeMy WebLinkAboutMN-CPB-2005-02-24I F��ED 11►P+A 2 2 2p05 COMMUNITY POLICE BOARD MEETING Co KSO�F�CE RE: MINUTES DATE: February 24, 2005 TIME: 3:30 pm PLACE:CITY HALL, 108 EAST GREEN STREET , Common Council Chambers Present: Commissioners Laskowitz, Slattery, Passmore, Whispell Flannery, Hill, Nelson, Chief Signer, Deputy Chief Haus, Guest: Rick Lockner; Staff, Nancy Falconer. Excused: Commissioner Wigden. Absent, Gaylord Townsend, liaison Meeting was called at 3:36 p.m. Commissioner Passmore chaired the meeting. 1. Minutes of Meeting of January 27 , 2005 approved unanimously. 2. Comments by the Public: Mr. Lockner spoke about his work with two mental health organizations of Tompkins County; the Starlight Club and SPACE. He also directs a TV program on Pegasus and invited a member of this board to join him at the program at a date to be set. 3. Report from Common Council: Common Council liaison was not present. 4) Report from Police Department: a) Chief Signer reported that the department has five openings, and they are actively recruiting for the April Police Academy Training sessions. b) Deputy Chief Haus discussed the timing of ridealongs and set some times with members. 5.Old Business: a) Decision not to table at the Chili festival on the Commons because of the weather uncertainty this coming weekend. 7. New Business- a) Staff has scheduled the Board meeting times to be listed in the Journal calendar that appears each day, and will send articles re the CPB to the Cornell Sun and the Ithacan. 8.) No executive session was held as there were no investigations to be discussed. Meeting adjourned for an orientation session for entire staff. A reenactment of a complaint and its follow through by a commissioner was performed by Commissioners Nelson and Laskowitz.
