HomeMy WebLinkAboutMN-CPB-2004-03-22ITHACA COMMUNITY POLICE BOARD MEETING DRAFT M INUTES: Ithaca Community Police Board PLACE: City Hall, 108 East Green St. third floor in Council Chambers TIME / DATE: March 25, 2004 at 3:30 p.m. PRESENT: Commissioners Wigden, Laskowitz, Passmore, Slattery, Dill, Whispell, Nelson Deputy Chief David Barnes, Chief Victor Loo, Officer C. Barksdale, Nancy Falconer, staff Absent: Gayraud Townsend, Council Liaison The meeting was called to order at 3:30 PM. 1. Approval of Minutes of February 26, 2004 The minutes were approved unanimously. 2. Comments by Public No one from the public was present to speak. 3. Report From Common Council The new Common Council appointee, Gayraud Townsend, was not present. 4. Report From the Police Department a) Officer Chris Townsend was promoted to Sergeant. 5. Old Business a) The draft of attitudes that citizens might expect from police officers when they apprehend or question someone, was handed out and comments elicited. Discussion followed with Officer Barksdale commenting of probable reactions to the list on the part of officers. The discussion was tabled until the April meeting. . b) The Cayuga Kiwanis proposal for a dinner to honor police and firemen was discussed and it was decided that it would be held in June or July. 6. New Business No new business was introduced. 7. Adjournment to Executive Session, motion made by Commissioner Passmore, second by Slattery. 8.Return to Public Session Six complaints were discussed in Executive Session: Actions taken: 1. Investigation incomplete because of lack of continued contact on part of complainant. Voted Closed: Whispell, Laskowitz, Passmore, Dill, Nelson, Slattery, Wigden 2. Investigation incomplete b/c of lack of continued contact on part of complainant. Voted closed Whispell, Laskowitz, Passmore, Dill, Nelson, Slattery, Wigden. 3. Investigation incomplete b/c of lack of continued contact on part of complainant. Voted closed Whispell, Laskowitz, Passmore, Dill, Nelson, Slattery, Wigden. 4. Investigation carried forward to next month. 5. and 6: Two new complaints have been received and assigned, carried forward to April. The meeting was adjourned at 4:55 PM.
