October 24, 2002
Present: Commissioners Wigden, Laskowitz,
Rovelstad, McGruder, Nelson, Deputy Chief David Barnes, Alderperson Pat Pryor,
staff, Nancy Falconer
Excused: A/C Signer, Commissioner Ron Passmore,
1. Approval of Minutes of September 27, 2002
The minutes were approved unanimously.
2. No public present to speak.
3. Police Report
Deputy Chief Barnes reported that the cuts for the IPD are probably going to be several, in addition
to some vacancies already existing.
4. Report by Common Council
There have been frequent meetings re the budget proposals. The final one must be in place by November
first. The State continues to send changes (mostly with negative impacts) and even may send cuts to be
made in the middle of the year, which could result in layoffs locally at a later date.. 1
5. Old Business
a) Motion was made by Bob Wigden to join NACOLE, seconded by Jonathan Laskowitz and approved
unanimously by the Board. Commissioner Wigden will identify the costs and let us know.
b) Applefest tabling on the Commons was successful, and staff was assisted by Commissioners
Laskowitz, Passmore, and Alderperson Pryor. Members suggested that a cart be bought to transport
the materials for next tabling.
c)Brochure changes were distributed for approval and suggestions made about layout. Commissioner
Rovelstad offered to do a final layout before printing. The new website will be on this brochure.
6. New Business
a) Dates for meetings in November and December will be changed to the third Thursdays due to the
holidays. November 21 at 3:30 and December 19 at 3:30 are the meeting times.
b) Two members announced that they have possible new applicants for vacancies on the Board.
