HomeMy WebLinkAboutMN-CPB-2002-09-27Community Police Board Meeting • September 27, 2002 Present: Commissioners Wigden, Laskowitz Passmore, Rovelstad, McGruder; Deputy Chief David Barnes, Alderperson Pat Pryor, staff, Nancy Falconer Absent: Commissioner Herb Nelson, Acting Chief Lauren Signer 1. Approval of Minutes of August 22, 2002 The minutes were approved unanimously. 2. Report by Common Council a) Applicants for the position of Police Chief are still being interviewed. A short list of three will be chosen as soon as the last applicant is interviewed b) The budget will be reviewed at 7:30 October 17th. Staff will be present, and others who can attend. Several said they would attend. 3. Old Business a) The letter to the Ithaca Journal re police procedures, that was proposed earlier , has been indefinitely postponed. b) Commissioners Passmore and Wigden met with Kandia at the Journal, and while she would not agree to place an article in the paper about CPB unless there was something new or different occurring, she did agree to look into their suggestion of doing an `agency of the month' article. c) Chair Wigden presented information about NACOLE membership and the costs. The decision about joining this was postponed to the next meeting. d) The URL for the newer Community Police Board page on the city site has been delayed for another week or two. Brochures will be printed as soon as this is obtained. e) Commissioner McGruder reported that she has contacted both Albany and Syracuse for officer procedure books and the should arrive soon. copies of the police p y 4. New Business a)Commissioner McGruder reported that tabling for the Apple festival on October 5th has been agreed to by the organizers. Members signed up to help between 1 and 4 or 5 pm. b) New badges for new board members have arrived. Staff was asked to send the end of term of each member to prepare for how many may need to be recruited. 5. Report From the Police Department. Deputy Chief Barnes reported that there will be a multi agency weekend effort to quell the parties that cause disturbances on both East Hill and South Hill this weekend. 6.
