HomeMy WebLinkAboutMN-CPB-2002-06-27ITHACA COMMUNITY POLICE BOARD MEETING M INUTES: Ithaca Community Police Board PLACE: City Hall, 108 East Green St. third floor at Council Chambers TIME / DATE: June 27, 2002 at 3:30 p.m. PRESENT: Commissioners Killeen, Wigden, Laskowitz, McGruder, Passmore, Rovelstad Alderperson Pryor, Acting Chief Signer, Deputy Chief Barnes, staff Nancy Falconer. Absent: Commissioner Nelson 1. Approval of Minutes of May 23, 2002 Approved unanimously. 2._ Adjournment to Executive Session �Wtlmtmlll)v Public Attending 4. Report from the Police Department a) Acting Chief Signer gave staff a copy of the training done with IPD members and it was decided that staff would copy the report for Board members. b) When she spoke with the mayor about replacing the three officer positions, he told her that there is a hiring freeze, and each request for replacements will be considered separately and not automatically refilled. c.) The new cars for IPD are here and are being prepared for the street. d.) Discussion of certain changes in assignments within the IPD. 5. Old Business a) Two letters have been written by Commissioner Wigden. One is attached for approval, and one is tabled for later discussion. b) The tabling at Juneteenth at Southside was held inside because of rain. Commissioners McGruder, Laskowitz, Killeen, Rovelstad, Passmore and Alderperson Pryor assisted. Tabling at the GIAC Festival was cancelled because of the heat and lack of available members to help; however, Commissioner Passmore attended and was present for two hours speaking about the CPB and handing out brochures. 6. New Business a) Commissioner Killeen announced his retirement from the Search Committee for the new IPD Chief, due to his probable move from this area in the near future. He moved that Commissioner Wigden be selected in his place. Seconded by Commissioner Passmore and approved unanimously by the members. b) Staff was asked to update the Board on whether there are Board vacancies left. c.) The old brochures were handed out for any changes that need to be noted before ordering new brochures. Members will return them with suggestions ASAP. 7. Meeting adjourned. The next meeting of the Board is July 25.
