MINUTES: Ithaca Community Police Board

ABSENT/EXCUSED: Commissioners Hang, Kane, Laskowitz, and Smith

Chairperson Slattery called the meeting to order at 3:32 pm.
1. Introductions
2. Approval of Minutes of Meeting of June 23, 2011
The minutes were approved unanimously.
3. Comments from the Public
After introducing himself to board members, Mr. McPherson asked some questions about the
Ithaca Community Police Board. In addition to observing the Board, McPherson wished to
express his concerns about the process by which Ithaca Police Department impounds vehicles.
4. Report from Common Council
Alderperson Zumoff made Board members aware that the Ithaca Police Department contract is
up for renewal in the near future.
5. Report from Police Department
There was no report from the Police Department,
6. Report from Staff
CPB Commissioner Fred Madeo resigned his position. Herden read his letter aloud to the
assembled commissioners. Updated CPB brochures are being disseminated to various agencies
around Ithaca.
7. Old Business
Discussion of potential requests for City Charter changes from CPB to the Charter & Code
Review Working Group was tabled due to low commissioner attendance this month. The
discussion will be carried over to August's meeting.

No new business was discussed.
9. Adjournment to Executive Session @ 4:03 pm
Motion by Commissioner Firenze and seconded by Commissioner Rogers to move to executive
session to discuss open complaints then return to public session and adjourn.
One open complaint was discussed.
1. Discussion of the open complaint (Firenze and Kane) was carried over to the August 2011
meeting. (#0611)
No new complaint and no new citizen letters of compliment were received between the June and
July board meetings.
