Before voting on the appointment Alderman Rogalsky asked for a ruling by the City Attorney as to whether Alderman Hyers �.-iight serve as Supervisor as well as Alderman. Mary � IBrien Attorney Tre:man explained the status of the Property Mary OtBrien estate property on Esty Street which was obtained by the City as a result of tax sale in 1931, and reco:riended that the Council quit —claim this property to one of the heirs who has agreed to pay all accrued taxes, penalties, fees etc. ly Alderman S&--m1ons: seconded by Alderman i yers: RESOLVED: that the %ayor and City Clerk be and they hereby are authorized to execute a quit claim deed for this property upon the payment of proper taxes and fees. Morris Ave. The iiayor reported that the Board of Public I7orks Properties requests that the Council appropriate ?$500 to cover the .cost of ::iaterial to repair one of the LLorri s Avenue properties for the use of public welfare recipients;as an experi-ment. The _..ayor stated he doubted the wisdom of such an. appropriation and after some discussion the request, on .lotion of Alder -man Causex was rejected. This led to t discussion of the problem of paying rent for welfare recipients, and the _utter was finally referred to the Welfare Co:,1-littee for investigation and report. Auto. -mobile Alderman Gill reported that the State had filed l:iileage notice that henceforth it would not approve bills Allowance for mileage of privately owned cars driven for the benefit of the City at a rate'. greater than per ;wile. He stated that wizile the City could con— tinue to pay 60 per mile the State would figure reimburse„lent s on a basis of Vq per mile and that while it .light cost more than � or even 6¢ to operate some of the cars now being driven for the benefit of the City he felt that the City should take the position that it could not afford to pay mare than the State allowance of 4-k- By Alder:.ian Gill: seconded by Alderr<ian Byers: RESOLVED: that all privately owned cars operated for the benefit of the City on which mileage has heretofore been allowed at the rate of 60 per :mile, shall, beginning ::_arch 1, 1933,be allowed a rate of only 42¢ per :_tile. Carried. The Clerk reported that the Coi_i:ion Council should at this time adopt a resolution designating the bank depositories.
