Hearing
The Clerk read the official advertised notice of the
Zone
Public Hearing ordered by the Com on Council at their
Change
preceding meeting.
Attorney Stephens appeared on behalf of all affected
property owners except Cornell University and opposed
the proposition to change the commercial district on the
west side of Stewart Avenue south of Cascadilla Creek.
No one appeared in favor of the change.

Change
Attorney Stephens also appeared in behalf of
Proposed
Deforest Head and T r. Jones, thus representing 50% of
the property owners that would be effected by the pro—
posed change in the Zone of the 100 Block, N. Geneva
Street' and opposed the proposed change to a residential
district.
No person appeared in favor of the change.

100 Blk., of K. Geneva Street re:,iain as it is, a-nd
further,
RESOLVED: that the Council approves the action of the
Board of Zoning Appeals in granting a pei:ait for a
Sanatariura in this co-aercial district.

Chm-,iberlain Snyder reported that City Attorney Treinan
Property
had approved the transfer, by quit claim deed, of the
property at -#104 I.1orris Avenue previously taken by the
City on a tax deed, 'to the Ithaca Trust Company as
Trustee for Christine Linch for a consideration of
$308.25 being the total a:-aount of all accrued taxes
and fees.
By Alderman Campbell: seconded by Alderman Sa<^i::ions:
RESOLVED: that the transfer be approved and the
.Layor and City Clerk authorized to execute the deed
in behalf of the City.
Carried.
The Clerk reminded the Alderman that the Charity
Department appropriation was exhausted and that it
would require an appropraation of $5,000 to ::feet the
bills and expenses that had been presented.

RESOLVED: that $5, 000 be and the sarle are hereby
appropriated from the surplus funds to the Charity
Depart ent.

RESOLVED: that the bills audited and approved by
the Finance Co:%1,-dttee be andthe sa.:ie is hereby
approved for payment.
Carried.
Alderman 2i3rers reported that the Police Depart::ient
had decided to try and get along with the present force
of 17 �.len without .making tti•�o new appointments to
fill the existing vacancies ; thus endeavoring to
cooperate with the Alde_�en in reducing expenses.
The Aldermen expressed appreciation of this
attitude and particularly of the Chief who, it was
reported, had taken active street duty to- help
accomplish this result.
Gas, Natural The Alderman discussed the proposed change in gas
Rates rates due to the introduction of natural gas and
agreed that nothing could be done about securing a
low rate until such rate is filed.
