She outlined a modern nro:�rard for relief and sho ed tiie 'necessity for a trained Worker in the Nelfa.re Departm6nt, particularly to conserve and wiselydistribute the public funds. • The Mayor agreed and recomiiiend.ed that such a trained viorker be employed, pointing out that the City would- thereby be in line for the 40 return from the State, as well as iiiiprovi.ng con— ditions in the Charity Dep_tirtiiient. He stated that he he,c.?. interviewed some persons for this position while in New York and wan favo-rcbly irinressed by one monlica.nt who would accept the position at 5p2,1100 per year althotig'. He explained that altIlough this property had been on the iii-a.rket for some tine tars. Titchenor had been unable to 'dispose of it except in this manner. He displayed an Architect's sketch of tile proposed buil dng and stated that practically all of the nearby residents had given consent to the building and that even tlie• people on the Ilei glit s rrho had opposed.
