A1dei7iia.n Rog;alsky reco:m::iended as a courtesy
to the Planning Coimilis -don and likewise the residents
of Cornell. Heights, that the Council tame no action
u-ihtil the next reoil._ir rac et ing;.
Attorney Peer stated that such action Would be i
agreeable if the matter taoald be definitely decided !
at the next regular liieeting of the Council,August 5th.
Professor Bretz urged that the ?matter before the
Council be acted. upon so as not to hold out any false
hopes to I.Ir. 1jiles along this line. He also urged that
the Co«r:;iittee Who are 'to study the rezoning of the
Heights be given ample time to do justice to such an
important job.
By Alde-rinan Lowe: seconded by Alderman layers:

be aimended, changing the block: bounded. by Highland
9ve.nia, TVtrckoff Avenue and He'i ghts Court from an "A"
residence district to a "B" recic+ence district.
en the Mayor asked if there vizs any dis-

with the Clerk, a petition alleging over Of oveof ti,e
ovrners of frontage within 300 feet of this:; Bloci: Wass. opposed
to chL -1 ;c in Zone.
Attorney Tre:nan statec_ that this petition against
such change presutiably Was valid and met the requirements
of Section 9 (g) of the Zoni.nU Ordin tnce, in which case the
Couricil could not make the proposed chani 2,6. IIe,ther:fo_:,
reco mended that the, matter be laid on the table, and the

of the Co cnell Heights Associ:.tion have a riieetinG and I
endeavor to reach some agreement whereby T+r. I:Iiles would
obtain a Special Use Pe:rciiit for this particular building
under Section 8 (a) of the Bu_ldin Zone Ordinance.
Dr. Kerr asked to be p.r!:titt ec+ to reraove a mi s-
ap_prehension in regard to :ir. F:i-ed Ro-- a.lsl,y l s action in
selli.nr this property, stating; that he now had been reliably

tiha,t Illy. 1J.1es intended to remodel it as a Rooming; House. !
A general di scu:;si n of the whole i)robleii ensued
during which Alderilian Saii.ions irrated at the delay, urr;ed
tLatthe whole ordinance be expunr.,ec.i. Attorney Treman
counseled that due consideration be given the matter and
:hga.in strongly urged that the Council adopt his previous
reco::i.iendation.
Profes ,or Bretz explained the views of the people
of the Heights and stated tivat they s ere quite i illing to
co-operate in any general plan of -rezoni,ng,but were actually
afraid and much op?)osed to sga.nting; special privileges
contrary to the spirit of the ordinance and good late.
Attorney Treinan again called attention to the fact
that the Council could take no action at this time and that
if the matter was referred to the Pla iuhing Cor.vii ssi on they :i
might in the mean time be able to reach an agreement
under Section 8 (a) as he suggested and then take whatever
tirae might be necessary in making a, very careful -and i
cov rehensive study With the property owners on the Heights,
of the rezoning of that territory.
By Alderman Hoffina.n: seconded by Alder. -man Ro-alsky:
