HomeMy WebLinkAboutMN-BPAC-2008-01-17Minutes from 1/17/08 BPAC meeting: Members in attendance: David K., David McE., Tim, David G., Matt, Kent, Trevor. (plus one visitor) Topics of discussion: 1. Truck traffic of Rt 89 - Discussed the issue of garbage trucks and the difficult issues involved with truck traffic in general. 2. Ithaca Festival - The festival organizers are considering (1) moving the date back to the end of June to try to get better weather and (2) are considering relocating to the W. State St. corridor instead of Stewart Park. 3. Cornell community transportation initiative - Cornell plans to fund some local transportation - related projects that support community areas around the Cornell area. A sub - committee of the ITCTC has been formed to rank project proposals. 4. Planning Board update - A couple projects were discussed: ID Booth building on Meadow St. & the combined heat /power plant at Cornell (to try to see how trail access may traverse the property). 5. Transportation planning efforts - (1) the City is working on developing a "Trails Master Plan" and (2) the City is working on developing an overall transportation plan for the citywide area. 6. Traffic calming - (1) Titus Towers has requested that the City remove the diagonal speed hump at the Wood & Fair St. intersection (2) the City is seeking input about the broader topic of traffic calming citywide. 7. Complete Streets - presentation on 1/30/08 on the topic of Complete Streets - see www.completestreets.org for more info. 8. Kent mentioned the website www.lesstraffic.com - interesting resource for citizen advocates. 9. We discussed the need to rotate BPAC chair responsibilities until a permanent chair can be obtained ... David G. has offered to chair the 2/21/08 meeting - thanks!
