HomeMy WebLinkAboutMN-BPAC-2007-03-083/8/07 City of Ithaca Bicycle /Pedestrian Advisory Council Minutes Dave Nutter - acting Chairperson In attendance: Jan Zeserson, Carla Shafer, Kent Johnson, Nicole Tedesco, Jennifer Dotson, Dave McElrath, Paul Adkins, Tim Logue 1. Jan provided an update about the Black Diamond Trail - trail first -round draft master plan sent from the Finger Lakes Region Parks office to Albany (NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation) for review ... approval may take months. Trail work day scheduled for March 31, 9:00; meeting place is where the BDT meets Willow Creek Road. 2. Update about Floral Ave. multi -use trail project - City has secured about $300,000 for project (to start in 2010) 3. City secured $100,000 grant for Gateway Trail along Six Mile Creek. 4. Kent provided a very short update on the progress of the "Sharrow" project - hopefully markings can still be installed this summer. 5. The proposed bicycle parking ordinance was discussed (copies were emailed to the BPAC list) 6. Kent shared drawings indicating how a "climbing" bicycle lane could be positioned on E. State St. (a pdf version of this drawing will be emailed to the BPAC list soon). 7. Jennifer discussed sidewalks along Floral Ave. and along Elmira Rd. She also discussed the proposed movie theater's exterior design - alternate designs were discussed. 8. Nicole reviewed the TCAT bus shelter plans. 9. Tim discussed the issue of repealing two overly restrictive pedestrian crossing laws. He also mentioned that more mid -block pedestrian crossing signs will be purchased by the City. 10. BPAC member unanimously voted to advise the City to repave the section of Buffalo St. from Tioga St. to Washington St. - "Park -to- Park!" 11. Carla concluded the meeting by discussing Wiki issues - time to be reserved each meeting to add to the Wiki. Kent to be acting Chairperson at April 12 meeting.
