APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF THE JUNE 25, 2014 MEETING: By Commissioner Roger: Seconded by Commissioner DaGrossa RESOLVED, That the minutes of the June 25, 2014 Community Police Board meeting be approved as published. Carried Unanimously REPORT FROM COMMON COUNCIL: Common Council Liaison Kerslick reported that Common Council will be meeting tonight with the Ithaca Fire Department and Ithaca Police Department on the departments plans and needs for the 2015 budget. The official budget discussions will begin in October. The Mayor has asked departments to submit budgets with a 1% reduction. REPORT FROM THE POLICE DEPARTMENT: Deputy Police Chief Townsend reported that Police Chief Barber is working on a power point presentation with regards to the budget process. Deputy Police Chief Townsends is continuing to work on updating the policies and procedures for accreditation. They are still working on filling 5 vacant positions. They had 3 candidates; however, one declined the position. The 2 others will start the academy in Syracuse. OLD BUSINESS: Commissioner Rogers reminded everyone to do a ride-a-long with the IPD Patrol Officers. He stated that even doing four hours of a shift helps you to understand what the officers do out there and exposes the Commissioners to the IPD Officers. New Business: A discussion was held on the meeting in August. The Board decided to wait to see if there would be any agenda items or complaints closer to the meeting dates before making a determination to postpone or cancel the meeting. Commissioner DaGrossa addressed the Board regarding the e-mail she received from Alderperson Cynthia Brock. She stated that she felt the best way to handle the e-mail was to forward it to both of the Co-chairs to handle. Commissioner Rogers contacted Alderperson Cynthia Brock to inform her that the Board has complaint forms for the public to fill out and listed the various locations that the forms can be found. He further told her that if any further information is needed to please contact one of the Co-Chairs or the City Clerks Office. Commissioner Onyejuruwa arrived at 3:56 pm. The SWAT Demo is being held for Common Council members on August 7, 2014 and members of the Community Police Board are interested in attending. Commmissioner Rogers will be in contact with Chief Barber in regards to the CPB members attending. ADJOURNMENT: On a motion the meeting adjourned at 4:00 p.m. Respectfully submitted: Cindie L.
