Announcements: Caitlin Moss’s application will be voted to the board at our July meeting. Staff Reports/Updates: The Friends of the YB on-line auction was a success and raised approximately $5,600 and folks have been picking up the items they had purchased. One particular couple that was picking up auction items had brought a photograph of herself and her sister from 1956 when they were in the Stewart Park Day Camp, Liz was able to spend some time talking to them. Liz spoke regarding the 2nd annual IYB Graduation Dinner that was held on June 10th, in which 21 students graduated and Liz passed around the book that was given out at the dinner. It was a wonderful evening and there were a lot of great stories. RSS received a grant from OPWDD in the amount of $5,000 which will be used to serve youth on the autism spectrum during the school year. The YES Program is busy hiring and helping assist youth to get summer jobs. The front office is busy taking registrations for summer programs as well as summer camps. Jen Handy will be leaving the IYB and there will be a Going Away Party on July 11th from 5- 7:00 p.m. at Lot 10. A $5.00 donation is requested at the door and Karen Friedeborn is taking C:\Users\JHarris\Documents\IYB Advisory Board\2013\IYB Advisory Board Minutes 061113.doc RSVP’s and can answer any questions. Marty Schreiber has been transitioning as Program Leader from Computer All Stars Program to Youth Council. Agenda Item #1: There are no official budget guidelines yet from the Mayor and IYB Budget is due on August 1st. The dates for July meetings were reviewed and an email will go out to remind Board Members of the dates and times. The dates are as follows: July 9, 2013 - No Meeting July 15, 2013 (Monday) – 4-6:00 p.m. - 2nd Floor Conf. Rm. – Executive Committee (Full Board Invited) – Budget review July 23, 2013 (Tuesday) – 6:30-7:30 p.m. - Act. Rm. – Full Board Budget Mtg. August 13, 2013 – No Meeting Agenda Item #2: Check in about monitoring of programs. Bill has not yet done monitoring, he plans on doing PSMP in September, will be shadowing CDP next week and will get in contact with Marty regarding Computer All Stars. Eric Nichols will be monitoring Youth Council on June 18th and will be shadowing Marty in the fall with Youth Council. There was some discussion regarding the small pavilion and that it is being rented and it looks great. Friends of Stewart Park are applying for grants to update the large pavilion. New procedures for locking the large pavilion are in place. Staff are in place and are working to sort out new locks, signage, etc. The Cass Park Pool opens June 17th and the GIAC pool opened on June 1st. Capital Projects are due in on June 26th and Cass Park has several for 2014 including: repairs to gutters around the pool; pool pump; new tractor; the rink enclosure. One Capital Project for the IYB is the replacement of one of the vans, we are still identifying others and prioritizing. There is roof work currently going on now and has had some delays because of the rain. We will be getting solar panels on once the roof is completed. Chris Milner (via email) will take over duties of Chair once Shannon is gone. He’ll begin to prepare for election of new officers in September. The group also discussed the need to recruit youth board members. Patrick Hollister is currently the only youth on the board and he is graduating. There was some discussion on advertising for recruitment on the YES Program’s Facebook page and possible with the CDP program too. There was a discussion regarding planning and event or hosting an event where we can get teens interested in the board. There was talk of asking the Mayor to come and speak and possibly C:\Users\JHarris\Documents\IYB Advisory Board\2013\IYB Advisory Board Minutes 061113.doc doing a dinner or an event similar to the Jump on Board Event. There was talk of including other city committees looking for youth representatives and talking with schools, etc. Jody will email the recruitment information she has to the board members for them to review. 7:10 p.m. ADJOURNMENT
