Amanda Olberg and Jeff Love gave a brief update of the status of the Friends of the Ithaca Youth Bureau. Jeff Love is the Chair and he advised that the Friends was started in 2003 by a group of community members getting together once a month. In November, 2009 the Friends group was officially incorporated and the final application for the 501©(3) status is being done now. Jeff gave told us what the Friends group is for, which is to encourage community awareness and fundraising for the Ithaca Youth Bureau. Because the Youth Bureau is a city agency they cannot solicit funds or do any direct fundraising. Currently the Friends have put together a 3 years of goal plan and these goals are “achievable goals”. Currently there are 9 members.
