Meeting Minutes
Attendance: George McGonigal, Eric Nichols, Caitlin Moss, and William Murphy,
Talyse LaDora Hampton, Augusta Christensen and Kenneth McLaurin

Meeting called to order at 6:14 p.m. by Talyse LaDora Hampton
Review and approval of Minutes:
The Minutes from January 14, 2014 were approved unanimously –Bill Murphy made the motion
and Augusta Christensen 2nd the motion, all were in favor
Announcements:
Liz thanked the Board Members who were able to get donations for the LeAlan Jones event on
February 6th and for the members who picked up the donated food and delivered them to the
event. It was a great success and the left overs were frozen for PSMP event coming up. Letters
from the Board will be sent to Pudgie’s, Sal’s, Buffalo Wild Wings and Sammy’s for the food
donations. Talyse and Eric will review the draft and Jody will mail them out.
Introductions were made by Board Members to Kenneth McLauren the Interim Director of
Southside. Talyse stated that Shannon had forwarded the sign up for the Jump on Board Event
and she signed up the Advisory Board for a table on 3/25 from 5:30-8:00 at the Holiday Inn
Ballroom. We asked Augusta to invite the Friends to join us at the event and share the booth
with the Board. We will get the tri-fold display board, some flyers from the IYB, pictures and I-
Playbook to take for the event. Jody will prepare a sign-up sheet for the event.
Jody will check in with Julie at the Clerk’s Office about updating the Advisory Board website.
Talyse will review the monitoring documents and update them. Members will come prepared
next month to sign up for monitoring/shadowing. Two programs are required to be monitored,
PSMP and Youth Council as they receive funding. Linda from CDP will be in next month to
give a presentation and we will have sign ups at the next Supervisor/Coordinator Meeting for the
next three months after that. It was voted on and approved unanimously that we will have
supervisor/coordinator come in and give a presentation at the meetings and then we do
monitoring/shadowing of their program.
Staff and Program Updates:
Liz advised that they are scheduling interviews for the recreation positions for 2/26 and 2/27.
The Spring I-Playbook is out and registrations are open. The Mayor will be looking into hiring
Director for the IYB in 2014.
George McGonigal stated that the Common Council meeting was cancelled last week and was
rescheduled.
Kenneth McLaurin the Interim Director of Southside gave a wonderful overview of Southside
and discussed the programs and events that are currently going on at Southside. They will be
hosting a fundraiser at Bailey Hall on 3/14 from 7-9 and Southside is currently hiring for two
positions, Cook and Program Manager. If anyone knows someone please have them apply.
Southside is also seeking Board Members. For more information check out their website:

Augusta stated that Friends has reached and surpassed their 2014 fundraising goal of $40,000!
The Maguire Oil change raised $16,000.00 and stated that Maguire has given $140,000 back to
the community doing these $10 oil changes. The Friends of the IYB meets once a month, on the
3rd Tuesday, if anyone is interested in attending a meeting. There was a suggestion of a Board
Mixer with the Friends and us.
Liz will check with Karen regarding the Cooperative Extension mentoring program and see if
there is an overflow of mentors that could be sent our way.
