Members absent: Dan Hoffman, Jon Meigs, Aaron Donato
Guests: Tom Whitlow, Roxy Johnston, IHS Participation in Government students Mane

There was no quorum so the January minutes were not approved.
Reports and Announcements: Anna reported that the first Nature Journaling
workshop, Animal Tracking, went well, despite the shortage of tracks. Five kids and
their parents and additional younger siblings attended and all were very enthusiastic.
Joe reported that the waiver for volunteers is forthcoming. With a volunteer, he cleaned
up a campsite at Six Mile under very windy conditions, underscoring the need for
waivers.
Cascadilla Parkway Resolution
Robert introduced a draft resolution regarding safety at Cascadilla Park Place, as
discussed at last month's meeting. Roxy mentioned that, according to Ray Benjamin,
there is still some question over ownership, which is contingent on maintenance. Ray
also indicated that there was no money in the budget to bring the sidewalk up to code,
nor is there room for a sidewalk wide enough to satisfy the code. No plan has yet been
sketched out by BPW. Ultimately, the NAC would like the BPW to repair the sidewalk or
create a safe walkway. Robert will add comments to the draft and send it to members
again for feedback.
Roxy also said that Ray would like a letter from NAC to prescribe season and number of
hours for rangers in 2013. Rangers will receive security training and will have better
phones for the upcoming season, which NAC will suggest should extend from Memorial
Day to Labor Day.
Trifold for Six Mile Creek
Joe circulated copies of a draft brochure for Six Mile, which has text regarding rules and
regulations on one side and a trail map on the other. Some suggestions were made
regarding text and Joe will incorporate them in the next draft. There was some
discussion about which trails to include, some unmarked trails are obvious and will likely
continue to be used. Map and legend will distinguish "marked" and unmarked trails. Joe
will have another draft ready for the March meeting.
Change of Meeting Time
There has been some thought about changing the meeting time so it does not conflict
with that of the BPW, and allow a BPW liaison to attend NAC meetings. The first
Tuesday of the month was suggested. Joe will follow up to determine room availability
and find out what else needs to be done to formally make the change.
Report to Common Council
Joe will give a report to Common Council at an upcoming CC meeting, largely focused
on the increasing anarchy at Six Mile, and make the case that the rangers need
authority or support from local law enforcement.
