Approval of the August 5, 2009 Disability Advisory Council Meeting Minutes -
Resolution
By DAC Member Erin Sember: Seconded by DAC Member George Eberhardt
RESOLVED, That the August 5, 2009 Disability Advisory Council Meeting Minutes be
approved with noted corrections.
Carried Unanimously
DAC Chair Larry Roberts reported to the Council that the CSMA (Community School of
Music & Art) is working with the IURA to repair the elevator so that it will be accessible
on all floors.
Update:
Commons Client Committee — options for possible upgrades to the Commons to
improve accessibility were discussed. For example how can they redesign stores on
private property on the Commons to improve accessibility such as removing obstacles,
installing push button door openers, and improvements to the bathrooms.
NEW BUSINESS:
Traffic Engineer Logue, reviewed the "Handicapped Parking Policy" with the DAC. He
requested recommendations and comments for changes to the policy from DAC
members. He explained the process that someone would follow to request the
installation of a handicap sign on the street in residential areas of the City. He state that
the odd /even parking regulations on most streets also causes problems with
accessibility. He will update the City's current policy and review it with Clerks Office
relating to the process for obtaining handicap parking permits. He will then bring the
revised policy back to the DAC for review and comment.
ADJOURNMENT:
On a motion the meeting adjourned at 1:30 p.m.
