Fees are $150 for water and $150 for sewer a. For turning water on or off contact Rodney 607-375-7030 b. Inspections are through the Plumbing Inspector at 607-256-4168 24-hour notice for all non - emergencies. c. Please contact Brad to map location prior to backfilling 607-327-1400 or Rodney at 607-375- 7030 d. Plumbing permits after the meter are pulled in open gov. 2. We will be transitioning to the 2025 Plumbing, 2025 Residential building codes and 2025 Fuel gas codes. All gas lines and venting need to be added to your Permits please make sure you are sizing the lines correctly and proper pressure testing. Note: Gas lines in commercial kitchens with movable equipment require a restraining device. 3. Expansion tanks: need to be sized for the entire system they are supplying. 4. Backflow Preventers: a. All applications need to be sent to the Plumbing Inspectors office for approval (new constriction have the architect or engineer forward them over. b. All commercial / Industrial facilities will require backflow prevention. c. Residential properties under 4 units will not require a backflow unless PEX piping is installed in the unit. d. Residential properties 4 units and above will require a testable backflow (verify device approval with plumbing inspector). e. Residential properties 10 units or more, student housing, fraternity housing will require backflow and a redundant system with backflow. f. All backflows need to be tested and sent to the Plumbing Inspectors office, any tests that fail certification call me immediately at 607-256-4168. (this includes fire lines as well). g. Certified testers can make repairs to a backflow, but only Licensed plumbers can replace one this needs to be permitted and approved by the Plumbing Inspector's office. h. Certification from an approved tester prior to final inspection. 5. PRV: Pressure reducing valves. Code states anything over 80 psi requires a PRV Please verify water pressure at each property, most of the city is over 80 PSI. 6. City installation requirements at meter location a. Gate valve prior to meter b. Then the meter (supported with proper hangers) c. After the meter another gate valve d. Then properly sized expansion tank or at the Water heater. Grease Traps: a. Must be approved by the Plumbing Inspector b. Required signage posted for exterior grease traps. c. Grease trap logs must be on site for inspections by the Plumbing inspector ( Fire Marshal. d. Facilities that are under renovation that have an existing Grease trap will need to be pumped prior to final inspection. 8, Water Sample a. We Require a water sample for all commercial, industrial, apartment/ student housing facilities prior to final inspection. Sample must be Negative. 9. Water heaters: a. Verify you are installing the proper heater check venting, gas sizing and power supply we have had a lot of improper installations lately. b. Bottom fed water heaters require a Vacuum Relief Valve installed 6" above the heater. c. 18" of metallic piping on atmospheric heaters is required prior to installing pex piping.
