Approval of the September 24, 2025 Community Police Board Meeting Minutes-
By Commissioner Sandberg: Seconded by Commissioner Bursic RESOLVED, That the minutes of
the September 24, 2025, Community Police Board meeting be approved as published.
Carried 6-0
Public Comment:
One individual asked if IPD has a plan in place for an uptick of burglaries/theft when EBT
benefits end due to government shutdown.
Commission Sandberg inquired whether an e-mail to the CPB constitutes a public comment.
The answer is no.
Report from the Police Department:
IPD Crime Analyst Shyeanne Smith gave an overview of the stats available on the IPD dashboard
via a document shared with Board members.
Some takeaways:
Calls are up; crime is down
Violent crime is continuing to trend downward, which is consistent with NYS overall
Asteri is a micro-hotspot
Other discussion centered on City budget and impact on IPD.

Busy budget season
Alderperson asked about email from constituent regarding e-bikes on the Commons,
clarified with IPD that they are legal in NYS but are considered bikes and therefore
prohibited on the Commons
o Discussion about whether this issue falls under the purview of CPB or IPD/City
Staff.
o IPD addresses such infractions while on Commons beat.

Commissioner Onyejuruwa is resigning from CPB as he has been accepted to grad school in
NYC. He thanked CPB members past and present for their leadership and dedication. Members
thanked Richard for his service to the City and CPB.
Motion to Enter into Executive Session to Discuss Active Investigations:
By Commissioner Rogers: Seconded by Commissioner Jackson (6-0)
Next Meeting: - November 19th at 4:30 (Note that this is the 3rd Wednesday to avoid conflict
with Thanksgiving holiday)
-Due to a Council meeting, CPB will meet again in the small 2nd floor conference room.
