HomeMy WebLinkAboutMN-CPB-2024-05-22CITY OF ITHACA COMMUNITY POLICE BOARD MINUTES Regular Meeting 4:30 p.m. May 22, 2024 Present: Chair: Kane Commissioners (7) Rogers, Simons, Korthuis, Onyejuruwa, Wright, Bursic Virtual: Rogers Others Present: Chief - Kelly Public Information Specialist - Faraday Absent: Alderperson Brown Approval of the April 24, 2024, Community Police Board Meeting Minutes- Resolution: By Commissioner Bursic: Seconded by Commissioner Korthuis RESOLVED, That the minutes of the April 24, 2024, Community Police Board meeting be approved as published. Carried 8-1 (recused) Old Business 7.1 Outreach Update- Commissioner Onyejuruwa shares that he has spoken with TCPL about potential presentations and/or other outreach opportunities utilizing their space. PIS Faraday will work with Richard on materials, including QR codes. Chair Kane would like the info from our recently created document for IPD relaying what the board does to be included on any print materials. PIS Faraday will look into multi-lingual/ translation service resources. Report from the Police Department: Chief Kelly shares that IPD will be supporting the Ithaca parade. IPD has one officer in Broome County, and one in Syracuse at training facilities. Will have a civil service exam post date very soon. Community Conversations will be happening beginning in June, Chief will share info as it is made available. Commissioners ask questions about field training, officer involvement and familiarity with community. An updated seniority list is requested. NACOLE representation/ delegation will be discussed at a later date. Chair Kane relays that she would like the monthly IPD report to be standardized, similar in format to that found at the County Public Safety meetings. The group discusses what kind of information they would like to see shared in a standardized report.
