COMMUNITY POLICE BOARD MINUTES
Regular Meeting 4:30 p.m. November 22, 2023
Present:
Chair: Kane
Commissioners (7) Beem-Miller, Rogers, Simons, Korthuis, Onyejuruwa, Wright, Bursic
Others Present:
Acting Chief – Schwartz
Common Council Liaison - McGonigal
Public Information Specialist - Faraday
Report from the Police Department: AC Schwartz shares that IPD assisted other
agencies at DSS, received a complimentary email. 3 Officers are in training, and laterals
are being processed.
Arthaus security is discussed.
Report from Staff: PIS Faraday reports that CPB has a $5,000 budget, will follow up
on how that is allocated. Chair Kane informs the group about the National Association of
Civilian Oversight to Law Enforcement group, and wanting to get a membership for the
CPB.
Board member Rogers shares that the group is required to take a Sexual Harassment
training, and the instructions are unclear.
Board member Korthuis requests an update from the CJC, will be on February Agenda.
MOTION TO ENTER INTO EXECUTIVE SESSION TO OPEN INVESTIGATIONS:
By Commissioner Rogers: Seconded by Commissioner Simons
RESOLVED, That the Community Police Board enter into Executive Session to discuss
active investigations.
Carried Unanimously
RECONVENE:
The Community Police Board reconvened into Regular Session with no formal action
taken.
ADJOURNMENT:
On a motion the meeting adjourned at 5:47 p.m.
