COMMUNITY POLICE BOARD MINUTES
Regular Meeting 4:30 p.m. December 27, 2023
Present:

Introductions- the group introduces themselves to Chief Kelly.
Approval of the November 22, 2023, Community Police Board Meeting Minutes-
Resolution:
By Commissioner Rogers: Seconded by Commissioner Beem-Miller
RESOLVED, That the minutes of the November 22, 2023, Community Police Board
meeting be approved as published.
Carried Unanimously
Report from Common Council: Alderperson McGonigal gives an update on the
Jungle, many stolen bicycles, bad environmental conditions, discusses Arthaus,
Community Outreach Workers, encampment policies.
Report from the Police Department: Chief Kelly discusses crime and safety as
focuses regarding the state of the Jungle. Updates on hiring and training at IPD. Shares
a compliment that PIS Faraday will distribute to Officers in mention on behalf of the
CPB.
Questions are asked about FLOCK cameras, the Board requests policies and
procedures regarding the camera next month.
Report from Staff
Several members of the Board are up to be Re-appointed, Bursic is not present- Shirley
will reach out to her; Michael Simons will accept reappointment; Rick Rogers would like
to be reappointed; Johnny Wright would like to be reappointed; Bruce Beem-Miller
would like to take a moment to consider.
Old Business
Outreach pushed to next month.
Rick Rogers tells the group about a NY Times article about bodycam use in New York
city departments.
MOTION TO ENTER INTO EXECUTIVE SESSION TO OPEN INVESTIGATIONS:
By Commissioner Rogers: Seconded by Commissioner Simons
RESOLVED, That the Community Police Board enter into Executive Session to discuss
active investigations.
Carried Unanimously
RECONVENE:
The Community Police Board reconvened into Regular Session with no formal action
taken.
ADJOURNMENT:
On a motion the meeting adjourned at 6:18 p.m.
