Mouse Second annual blood drive a success!!! Submitted by Diane Bradac, TC' Traimn and Development Tompkins County employees held their Second Annual Blood Drive on July 30 and August 9, 2001. We'd like to extend a major thank you to the 78 county employees and 18 hospital employees who signed up to donate blood. On July 30 we had 29 pints accepted and on Aug 9 th, 63 pints were accepted - 92 pints is fabulous! Summer time drives are especially important to the Red Cross because the college students are gone and many donors are away on vacation. WAY TO GO - WE MADE A DIFFERENCE! Congratulations on another successful blood drive campaign. The truck entered into these parades was the newest addition to the Highway's fleet a 2001 Sterling 10 -wheel dump truck. The truck was put into service in June and will be used for hauling gravel, stone, blacktop and other materials during the construction season. It will then be harnessed with a snow plow and wing for snow removal operations on the west side of Tompkins County. Barry Rollins, Motor Equipment Operator, and Cheryl Nelson, Public Works Administrator, rode in the truck in the Groton parade. Richard Chase, Highway Crew Supervisor, and Michael Rogers, Motor Equipment Operator, rode in the Trumansburg parade. It was great to see so many people at these parades and to hear the compliments about this newest addition to the Highway Division's equipment. The team's Top Banana adds members' individual scores together for the team's weekly \\-.,\LN: total. The team's weekly total is submitted to the Head of Lettuce.* Scores are recorded by the Head of Lettuce as team averages (total team score divided by number of people on the team). That way, a team of 4 has the same chance as a team of 5. The winning team will be the team with the most points at the end of the Challenge, which goes from October 8 to November 16, 2001 (6 weeks). It was a great way to put a face with a voice that you've often heard on the telephone when you call another department. ,, On Friday, September 7, 2001, 84 golfers turned out at the Trumansburg Golf Course for another stellar day of basking in the 85- degree sun. After knocking around 18 holes worth of golf balls. and sometimes one or two into someone else's fairway, all golfers enjoyed a delectabJo dinners and took home very fashionable prizes.
