In September 2022 Kendal removed several dead Ash trees that were killed by the Emerald Ash Bore including 29 within the 20' riparian area of the Renwick Brook that were a danger to the residents walking on the Abrams Path that paralleled the Brook. The trees had started losing branches and falling. In the early Spring of 2023 Kendal ordered 2 "Buffer in a Bag" seedling packets (25 seedlings ea.) as well as 1 Riparian package was purchased by a resident (200 seedlings). In Mid -May Kendal had a "Planting day" planting 133 of the riparian seedlings along Renwick Brook and potted the remaining seedlings for Fall planting/replacement. Kendal would like to plant 8 additional new trees approx. 8' tall in the Riparian zone as well as 23 scattered trees between the Riparian zone and neighboring houses. Just remember, you must plant all seedlings within your selected project area —alongside your waterbody—while still providing them with adequate space to grow. In the example below, we're planting faster -growing species that thrive in wet conditions along the stream to stabilize the bank. The species that require more space or take longer to grow are further back. To provide food and shelter for wildlife, you can use the closest recommended spacing to group several of the same species together. Planting in groups can also increase the survival rate of the seedlings. NEW YORK STATE PLANTING PACKET Species may vary based on availability. Substitute species will be labeled and have the same planting requirements. retla== 0 QussIV N,nebdrk -Ced 3'-10' ay - /SpayAIMEed 3'-1000 ' 5`,KY di/■wo°a spd`C- '-1` g\ack ON, -`ed 12'45 av- If you have questions about plant placement, please contact DEC's Colonel William F.
