REPORT: An application for construction of a new fence, to replace an existing fence, at the above
address has been denied. The new fence is a 7.5' high solid wood wall located at
approximately 9' (at closest point) to the front property line on the Comstock Road side
of the property. This is considered a "front yard" by the zoning regulations, and therefore
such a fence would need be at least 25' from the property line as required by the Village
of Cayuga Heights Zoning Ordinance Section 305-19.A.1 Yard Regulations.
Since the fence was built prior to the issuance of a zoning permit, the property owner is
seeking a variance to allow the fence to remain (as built). Therefore, a public hearing
will be held on August 3, 2020 @ 7:00 pm at Village Hall, 836 Hanshaw Road, Ithaca,
NY 14850 to hear comments on the new fence. In addition to the public hearing at
Village Hall, the meeting will also be open to view/participate online via Zoom Meeting
ID 93444836375.
