There were 21 calls in the village, 14 cails in the town and 3 mutual aid calls. We stayed pretty busy with all types of runs for the month. There were no especially noteworthy alarms for the month. It was just a very busy month filled with average calls but our members kept up the pace and got thejob done. We have continued work on the station recently. Our tool room has been cleaned and new shelving has been installed to make that area of the station much more organized. The back door of the station is going to be repaired very soon. The contractor is putting together a crew to get that job done. We recently had the driveway resealed and restriped. The parking arca along the side of the station was restriped diagonally to promote people to drive around the parking lot in the correct direction. We have kept up the pace of training through the spring. Proof of our training programs success is the recent promotion of four firefighters to interior status. We have a waiting list of 35 people for our fall recruit class. We will be going though the list of people who have applied to the department and pick fifteen for the fall class. We are limited only by the ability to properly train the new members and the ability to get all of them trough the reqrired state trainings within the first year. We are very excited about this fall class. The bunker program is going very well. We have a full bunker area with several members on the waiting list for a room should one open. We will have two new bunkers in the fall. We will sorely miss Lt. Bruce Denick who is moving on to medical school and Lt. Lauren Putnam who is taking a job outside of Ithaca. These two individuals have dedicated a large part of their lives to this department and their contributions have been countless. ,, T-[ ELP P R.E\/E,NT F TRE,S'' We are currently getting estimates from Caskeys Garage to repaint Engine 202. This truck is starting to rust in many spots. We are looking into getting these spot repaired before they become too large to fix. Ladder 237 has been a great truck for us so far. Many of the drivers of our engines are starting to train on the ladder truck. The department is strong through the summer due to the members here in the area for the summer picking continuing to be strong on responses for all calls at any time of the day" This year we have started what I hope becomes a tradition in the Cayuga Heights Fire Department. We had a barbeque for our graduating members on May 27th. These young men and women come to the department as new students at Cornell and at the end of their tenure here they turn in their gear and leave. Many of their parents and family members never get to see the station or get a thank you from the officers and members for the time that these folks have dedicated to our organization. This year we had the first annual family barbeque" I hope this tradition continues for many years to come. Sincerely, Fire Chief/Fire Superintendent EMERGENCYCALLS: 38 TOTALCALLSYEARTODATE:181 Total Calls - 38 Fire Calls - 14 EMS Calls - 19 TotalMutualAid- 3 Lansing-2 lthaca- | Calls in the Village - 21 Calls in the Town - 14 TRAINING / MEETINGS / EVENTS: 5n - Tri for the Y 5/3 - Fire Training 5111 - Fire Training 5114- Red Cross Blood Drive 5126 - EMS Training 5127 - BBQ for Graduates UPCOMING EVENTS: 617 - Fire Training - Burn Tower 6/15 - Fire Training 6122 - EMS Training 6/30 - Fire Training APPARATUS: All trucks working well STATION: Back door for station on order and work scheduled Cayuga Heights Fire Department Date RangelFrom 05/01i2005 to 0il3l/2005 Box/Zonel Code:All District:All Situation Found:All Exclude Mutual .dids:No Exclude Exposures:No Incident Run Log Situation Found49-00 0s/0r/200s EMS call, excluding vehicle -050150-00 05/02/2005 SeePCR# 5-2889673 lsl-00 05/02/2005 SEEPCR# 5-2889674 See NYS PCR # 5-288967s EMS call, excluding vehicle 153-00 05/04/2005 04:35 262 Aos to find high flow water flow coming from boiler relief valve.
