We ran 39 calls for a very busy month. There were 16 calls in the village, 15 calls in the town and 8 mutual aid calls. Once again we ran just about half and half for EMS calls versus fire calls. As noted before we had eight mutual aid calls for the month. This was even more then we usually run. On the day ofour banquet we assisted the Lansing Fire Department with an apartment fire. Our mgmbers did a superb job on the scene. At the beginning of Aprif we were very busy withL flooding calls from all the heavy rains we had. V/e have several pump kits that we use to help residents of our fire district remove water from basementi when they have water problems. We had our annual banquet on April 23'd. Agood time was had by all who were there. All of our current offtcers have been installed and we are getting ready to set our goals for the upcoming year. Things are moving along steadily in the station. The trucks are all working well and the station is looking great. The new ladder truck is in service and running calls. We had our training with the engineer from E-One and all the previous drivers for the truck are now certified on the new truck. We are currently trainins the newer drivers on the ladder. Training continues at a frantic pace at the station. Our members are training in house all the time. The newer members are working through checklists and attending trainings at the tower. We have several firefighters staying in town for the summer to a:ttend claises at the fire academy. Firefighter Joe Palin is in the recruit firefighter training class at thefire academy at this time. He is ranked number one in his class of approiimetly forty paid firefrghters. we are all very proud of Joe's accomplishment. Our bunker rooms are full at this time. We have one bunker leaving at the end of the sununer this year but we looked over our waiting list and are pleased with the prospective new bunkers. We have had a couple of members express interest in staying aithe stationfor extended periods of time over the summer. This will work out w"ll b""urrr" *" foresee many of our members being out of town this summer for varying periods of time. ,, H ELP P REVEIVT F I RES'' The back door of the station will be replaced in early June. This has been a project we have wanted to get done for some time. We are also having the parking lot resealed and reshiped in June. All of our annual equipment maintenance is scheduled for the upcoming year. Engine 202 is starting to get some rust spots that we are going to have looked at soon and will try to have the work done over the swnmer to prevent larger problems from occurring. Our preventive maintenance program is working very well ior us and we are experiencing fewer truck down times when there are issues.
