Lansing Chielf of Police March 14,2005 To: The Honorable Walter Lynn Members of the Board of Trustees Village of Cayuga Heights Re: Report of the Police Department for Februarry 2005 For the month of February there were a total of 1l'7 complaints reported to the Police Department and 7 motor vehicle accidents investigated. There were a total of 83 traffic tickets issued and 10 parking tickets written. During February there were no felony complaints. There were twenty-one misdemeanors reported: two for Issuing a Bad Check, five for Petit Larceny, thirteen for Criminal Mischief and one ior Aggravated Harassment. One of the bad check cases was closed with restitution paid in full and the other is stitt open. A bad check case pending from December 2004 was ciosed with restitution received. Two of the petit larcenies were reported when customers pumped gasoline into ttreir vehicles and left without paying. Both subjects were contacted and returned to pay. A sub;iect reported that her camera was taken while she was attending a social function at a residence in the village. A business manager reported that cash was taken from her office. The employees were questioned and statements taken. The case is still pending. A resident reported that his mailbox was taken durin5; the night. Six of the criminal mischief cases were reports of residents having their mirrors broken off or damaged on their vehicles. These incidents took place in the 300 block and 400 block of Highland Rd during an overnight. Seven of the criminal mischief cases were reports of damaged mailboxes. These irrcidents occurred on E Remington Rd and in the 600 block and 800 block of Highland Rd during an overnight. The aggravated harassmeit case was reported by a resident when she received a letter from a subject that she has had previous problems with and that this department handled the case in 1997. The subject was found to be in Philadelphia, Pa and still in probation through their Psychiatric Unit. Contact was made with the Philadelphia Probation and they were advised of the sihration. There was one violation reported, a HeLrassment case. A 37 year old female was arrested for writing threatening notes to her landlord and another tenant. There were three village ordinance complaints: one for a dog running loose and two for soliciting without a permit. There were two Vehicle and Traffic complaints received: one for an abandoned vehicle and one miscellaneous problem. There were a total of ninety miscellaneous complaints handled by this department for the month of February. During the month of February, the officers attended a one day simunitions training held at Dewitt Middle School with other area Police Departments participating. The days training was organized by The Cayuga Heights Police Department. The full time officers worked 96 hours of overtime anLd the part-time officers worked 174 hours.
