Re: Report of the Police Deparlment for Novernber 2006
For the month of November there were 90 complaints reported to,the police deparlrnent and 5 motor
vehicle accidents investigated. There were 76 trafictickets
-issued
and 9 parking tickets written'
Dur:ing November there was one felony complaint, Grand Larceny' An apartment ownel reported that an
emp1o1,ss had charged numerous unautlorized items at two different stores where he has an account for the
building,s maintenance ,r."dr. After a lengthi investigation.with numerous ilterviews and statements
taken by subjects involved, this departmeni'*u, notlfied by the complainant that he was making
arrangements for the employee to repay him for the items. The lomplainant was advised that the case was
now civil and that the case wouid beilosed and no further action taken by this deparfment'
There were eight misdemeanols repofted: one for Petit Larceny, four for crimilal Mischief' one for
cnmirral Tampering, two for Identity rraud. alesident report.d thut his bicycle had been stolen The
bicycle had been attached to a ffee by a cable lo.k. on. crirninal mischief case was the report by a resident
that her mailbox had been knocked from its post. The complainant was unsure of the exact date as it
ocr;urred while she had been out of town fo, u f.w days. Two iesidents reported crimiaal mischief done to
their vehicles. One subject observed his driver's side rear window had been broken out by a garbage bag of
.cans and bottles found on the ground next to his vehicle. It appearerl that the bag had been thrown from a
m.ving vehicle. The other sriUject reported that his driver's side lront window of his vehicie had been
scratched by an unknown object. A resident reported that someone had thrown eggs agai:rst the house'
hitting; the basement window ,"r""n and causing u ttott' The criminal tampering case was the report from a
resident that someone had taken the Christmis iights from her-fiont bushes and iaid them across her
driveway. Both identity fraud cases involved charge's on the complainants' credit card bill that they had not
been responsible fbr making. In one case, the offiIer was able to ascertain that the shipping address for the
charged items was in Tomikins County. It was found that the Tompkins County Sheriff Deparfment was
air.eady investigating simiiar cases of identity fraud and that the charged items were sent to the same
location. Our case was turned ovel to the Sheriff s Department to be included with their charges'
During Novernber there were two violations reported, both for-Disorderly Conduct' Both cases involved
individuals causlng a loud disturbance. Both subjects responsible lvere advised of the complaints agamst
them and agreed to cease with their activity'
There were two village ordinance complaints: one for a dog running loose and one for open burning'
Tlere were five Vehicle and Traffic Law complaints reported: one for Parking, fwo for Abandoned Vehicle
and two miscellaneous problems. There were seventy-two miscellaneous complaints handled by this
