As ia reminder, I have received a permit application from Mr. Nadim I<hanaka to operate a
pizz.eriain one of the vacant spaces at84A Hanshaw Road. A restaurant is an allowed use in the
Cornmercial ZonngDistrict, but requires "special approvaf' ofthe Board of Trustees (this is
similar to the Site Plan Review by the Planning Board when a new building is built or modified).
The Zoning Ordinance reads as follows:
"Section 4.2.c: Restaurant or dairy bar for the serving of food and beverages but only on special
approval of the Board of Trustees. In granting approval, the Board of Trustees shall determine,
after a public hearing, that aneed for such use exists for the convenience of the neighborhood
and that the general welfare of the Village will be served and there will be no excessive noise in
connection with the use."
Some examples of conditions that have been imposed in the past:
-days/hours of operation
-number of seats
-specification of menu
-parking agreement with landlord
-renewal
AC'IION: lvlotion to grant special approval to Nadim Y'haz.zakato operate apizzena at 840
Hanshaw Road. The Zorrrng Officer shall issue a permit for the necessary interior renovations as
required by the NYS Fire Code. The permit shall be subject to the following conditions:
1. T'he restaurant will serve piz,za and other related items.
2" T'he restaurant will be limited to 24 seats for indoor dining only.
3. The restaurant will operate from 10 am to 10 pm, 7 days per week.
4" T'he parkirng requirements for this restaurant will be met by the existing facilities provided by
the property owner.
5. This special approval is subject to renewal 10 years after the issuance of the permit.

PERSONNEL DEPARTMENT TO ADD ANEW JOB TITLE ASSISTANT
SUPERINTENDENT OF PIJBLIC WORKS, TO TTIE VILLAGE'S ROSTER
Whereas, the Village DPW position of Working Supervisor is currently the job title for the
person responsible for the oversight of the DPW staffand daily operations, which position has
recent become vacant due to a retirement, and
Whereas, the Public Works Committee has determined that the current job description for
Working Supervisor is inadequate to provide the necessary authority and responsibility for the
effective and productive operation of the DPW and
Whereas, the PWC has agreed that the job description for Assistant Superintendent of Public
Works has the qualifications required to perform the increased responsibility and authority
necessaf,y to improve the effectiveness of the entire DPW operations, and
Whereas, before the Village can hire a person to fill the position of Assistant Superintendent o1'
Public Worls, the job must be added to the current ro$ter ofNYS Civil Service position as
approved by the Tornpkins County Personnel Department, and now
Thereforg the Village of Cayuga Heights Board of Trustees hereby agrees to submit a detailed
job description for the position of Assistant Superintendent of Public Works to the Tompkins
County Personnel Deparfment for review and approve for addition to the Village's roster ofNllS
Civil Service positions, and
Thereforg the Village will not fill this position uotil it has received approval from the County to
do so.
