Re: Report of the Police Department for October 2009
For the month of October, there were 107 complaints reported to the police department and 10 motor
vehicle accidents investigated. There were 45 traffic tickets issued and26 parking tickets written.
For the month of October, there was one felony complaint for Burglary. The general manager for an
apartment complex was contacted by renters of a storage unit inside that complex, stating their storage unit
had been broken into. Upon investigation, it was found that the locks to all four storage units had been cut
off Each storage area seemed to have been rifled through, though the victims could not tell if anything was
missing at this time. The owners of the other storage units are unknown, but will be contacted by the
manager and are to contact the police deparfment.
There were three misdemeanors reported: one for criminal mischief, one'for aggravated harassment, arLd
one for assault 3'd. It was reported that while several dump trucks left overnight that were being used for a
construction project, someone had dumped some type of sty'ofoam material into the fuel tanks of four of
the trucks which could cause extensive damage to the engines. There have been no suspects reported. A 46
year old male called to report harassment from his 35 year old ex-girlfriend whom he had recently broken
up with. The female half was having a hard time accepting the breakup and continued to send text messages
to the male half. He just wanted her to leave him alone, so a message was left for the female half advising
not to contact him anymore. An officer responded to a report of a domestic in progress. The officer found
the female parher had injured her male partner. The 34 year old female was arrested for assault 3'd and
unlawfully dealing with a child. The officer found that there was unlawfully dealing with a child due to ttLe
child being inside the house when this dispute was going on. The female was arraigned and an order of
protection was served.
There were two violations reported, both for disorderly conduct" An officer responded to a report of two
men fighting near Sunset Park. Upon arrival, the offrcer found two men wrestling on the ground, in which
they stated they were horsing around. Necessary advice was rendered. A loud parry had been reported in
the area of Westbourne Lane. The officer responded and remained on scene while a very large parfy had
dispersed and cleared the area,
Tluee village ordinance complaints were received: one for being in the park after hours and two for dog
cc.rntrol. There were five vehicle and haffrc complaints, all miscellaneous problems. During the month of
October, there were ninety-seven miscellaneous complaints reported to this department.
Officer Lanning spoke at a New York State Associate of School Nurses conference held in Watkins Glen,
New York. Officer Tier attended the Cayuga Heights Fire Department open house on rc/n109. Officer
Tier had car 124 on display and spoke to residents who had questions. Chief Boyce and Officer Lanning
attended a one day seminar in Binghamton NY titled Federal Investigators Toolbox. The training was an
explanation ofresources and responsibilities that different federal agencies provide. The police department
provided security for board meetings and public hearing for deer. All full time and part time officers had
their semi annual range training.
During the month of October, the full time officers worked 62.5 hours of overtime and the part-time
officers worked 200 hours.
Sincerely,
