Request for Fence Variance at 823 Hanshaw Road
Thank you for considering a variance for the fence at 823 Hanshaw Road.
The fence in question has been in place for many years and this 6 foot high fence was in place when we
bought the residence. It is only 14 feet long and placed near the back doorway and patio where the
residents exit and enter the home.
Very few other private residences in this neighborhood are subjected to such a loud intersection where
much foot, auto, truck and bus traffic are constantly passing by.The fence affords our tenants a small
amount of privacy, safety and noise reduction near the very busy commercial intersection of Hanshaw,
Triphammer, Klinewoods and Upland Roads. Because both sides of the house face busy roadways,a
well-traveled sidewalk and a bus stop, there is not traditional private backyard space.
The fence in question creates a blind and a minute amount of "backyard" comfort, privacy and quiet at
823 Hanshaw Road. We feel that keeping the fence in its place would it would protect the residential
quality of the home.
