Owner/Applicant: C C-e 4, b 4- Signature: 1- C ` Date: g Phone number(s): 1 I 1 ' t a 7 Emad address: C— C-- 0 ' -?J 3 Dear Village Board Members, I am pleased to be a new resident to the village of Cayuga heights since the purchase of my home at 203 Cayuga heights road in May 2013. 1 grew up in Ithaca and have visited here frequently over the years, both to visit family who have remained here and to attend alumni events at Cornell University. I am excited to be returning to the Ithaca Community at this point and hope to make valuable contributions in whatever ways that I am able. Currently I would like to submit a request for replacement of fencing as proposed in the enclosed diagram, survey and descriptive. This proposal was developed in conjunction with Peter Whitmore of Whitmore Fence Company. As shown, I have 2 requests: I. I would like to replace the current fencing that existed when I bought the house on the front and side of the home fore the length of 84'.The current partition, which is at the height of 6ft. is in repair and is put together in a haphazard way made of many non-conventional materials, which my neighbor combined to provide her with privacy. (See photo.) I would like to facilitate and maintain this existing 6' privacy screen, as she calls it, with a conventional, durable and safer fence at my own cost, using the cedar scalloped shadow fence (see photo.) This proposed fence would be slightly inside my property line.C (.11 %n s s ale- P'v P c-* 1°` e--) II. I would also like to respectfully request a variance on 8g section of the property where trees from my neighbors yard which were in poor and in weakened condition fell across my yardehitting my home and causing considerable damage during the thunderstorm earlier this month. I have worked with Cascadilla Tree Company to remove the damaged trees, and fencing on my property line as well, which was smashed and ruined. The proposed stretch of scalloped shadow fencing on this property would replace and maintain the natural barrier that this grove of 50'ft trees high trees had provided for many years. Since the trees were removed last week, myself and the neighbor are faceakith a 60' ft long open gap between our properties which previously had a natural border of tall, dense trees which gave us each privacy. My fence proposal would restore the natural barrier that had existed for decaaees until this recent storm led. See hobos. It would take ears for caused rt to be completely leveled. ( p ) Y trees to grow to this size to replace the previous natural barrier. With this in miAmy proposal provides an immediate jalthough somewhat compromised solution with a 6ft hi h stretch of attractive, durable cedar u )Ac;, - pPDp 1af) fencingnin place of the t_reels which unfortunately came down in the storm. This proposed fencing can provide the natural barrier we sadly lost and smaller trees can be planted along it. With both of my requests I want to be clear that there is absolutely no intention of barricading deer from entering my property. Beyond the proposed 6ft fencing the remaining fencing stands at 3-4 feet in the backyard and the entire front yard has open access. I would be pleased to discuss this proposal with any of you as would Peter Whitmore, of Whitmore Fencing. The proposed fencing will be attractive, safe and durable and will improve the currently unattractive open gap and enhance the now problematic, dangerouse screen put together above regulation height by the neighbor on the west of my property. In an overall way, this proposal will maintain the beauty of this lovely section of Cayuga Heights. I can be reached at, (1-914)671- 2750 or at dr.ccolbert@gmail.com.
