Re: Report of the Police Departrnent for May 2009
For the month of May there were 159 complaints reported to the police deparfment and 5 motor vehicle
accidents investigated. There were 38 traffic tickets issued and 7 parking tickets written.
For the month of May there were two felony complaints: Burglary and Forgery. A resident reported that an
unknown subject had been entering his garage and house and taken several items from both locations'
Some of the items have been returned but put in different places. There was no sign of forced entry but the
door to the garage had been left unlocked with the house keys hanging in plain sight. The resident stated
that he will change his locks. He also stated that he would be out of town but upon his return would contact
this department with a list of items that are missing. The case is still open and under investigation. An
officer had stopped a vehicle for traffic violations and when asked, the driver stated that he did not have his
driver's license with him. The driver stated his name and date of birth. When this information was run
through dispatch, it showed that the driver had a valid NYS license. The driver was issued 2 trafTtc tickets.
The driver mailed ttre tickets to court signing the guilty plea, but later rescinded the plea and came to court
in person. At court it was determined that the driver had given the officer a false name, his brother's, and
signed his brother's name on the tickets. The 20 year old male was amested for forgery and miminal
impersonation.
There were twenty-seven misdemeanors reported: two for Petit Larceny and twenty-five for Criminal
Mischief. A resident reported the theft of a canoe from her yard. She had been away for the winter and
noticed it gone upon her return. The theft ofa wheel barrow had been reported by a resident. The resident
called the next day and advised this department that a neighbor had borrowed it. The case was closed as
unfounded. During the overnight, the patrol offrcer observed twenty-five criminal mischief cases in which
the mailbox and post had been pulled up and laid onto the ground. There was little or no damage to the
posts or mailboxes. One case occuned on Klinewoods Rd and the rest along Triphammer Rd.
There were three violations reported for the month of May: two for Disorderly Conduct and one for
Harassment. The officer responded to a report of a loud parly late at night. The subject hosting the paffy
was advised of the complaint and closed the party down. A business reported a loud and disturbing person
at their business. Upon arrival of the officer, the subject had left the area. A parent reported that his son
had been harassed in a threatening manner while at school. The parent had reported it to the school and had
been advised to contact this department. The parent did not want to press charges but wanted this incident
on record.
There were three Village Ordinance complaints: one for dog control and 2 concerning Solicitors and
Peddlers.
