Jack and All,
I'm not sure if I'11 bring this up in brief at Monday's PB Vote, but I believe the Planning Board,
Independent and Separate would have passed at our last Board meeting with the caveat of same family
not on both Boards. Perhaps it will pass one way or the other tomorrow. I don't wish to hold it up, nor
likely could I with just one vote of 7. Yet, I've sure observed the influence of one vote.
In my re-read of the minutes, I note Diana and I in discourse about her sense that my business
experience is all together difftrent that Village Government. I have no quarrel here. Yet I can only draw
upon my experience in Directorships of varied enterprises; One 600 Bed Catholic Hospital, Chairman's
Role in building a Joint Hospital Community Cancer Clinic, Director of a Medium Sized Manufacturing
Company, Board of American Cancer Society, for example. We've all had significant experiences and I
note in mine that mixing family on the same Board or related boards has been problematic for the
institution and my greater family wlhen it came down to making decisions. It seems that personal
objectives easily got in the way of the greater vision, and then roadblocks to progress grew and grew.
I'm involved in one estate matter now that's 10 years old, due to same-family power struggles. My main
suggestion is that if we don't invite this potential conflict, I say we are the wiser.
If we go ahead with or without "C" or with a variation, I'll do my best as a member of the Board to make
it successful. I'm truly hopeful that neither I nor any member of our Board will hold malice toward one
