Marcham, Mayor Members of the Board of Trustees Village of Cayuga Heights Gentlemen: I hereby submit my report of the operations of the Fire Department for the month of February, 1968. Fire Calls: 2/9/68 Route 13, Assist Cayuga Heights Police Department with several accidents. 2/24/68 Hill Drug Store, burnt ballast in fluorescent light fixture. 2/27/68 Parking Lot "A" off Jessup Road, underground electrical fire. Investigations: 2/2/68 Report of large clouds of smoke in 1300 block of Hanshaw Road, smoke was from Cornell Heating Plant. 2/21/68 Recieved several complaints regarding burning on Lucente Devel- opment A large brush fire was endangering nearby houses. The Tompkik County Board of Health was notified. Rocco Lucente was ordered to cease burning and have the brush pile removed from the premises, and his State burning permit was revoked as he was in violation. The permit has since been reinstated. Inspections: 2/6/68 Lakeland Homes, Village Green„ Flavin Jewelers 2/15/68 305 Highland Road 2/27/68 208 Dearborn Place 2/29/68 715, 7193 801 Triphammer Road Two red warning lights were installed on the grill of Engine #2 to improve visibility of the apparatus to motorists and pedestrians. Engine #2 was also tuned up and-the carburetor was repaired to stop a gasoline leak. The stove in the Chief's quarters continues to operate poorly. The heating unit in the oven has been repaired twice in the last three months at a cost of $7.50 each time. Replacement of this unit is necessary as it still does not oper- ate properly. Replacement of this unit would cost approximately $40.00. The timer also does not operate. It is recommended that a new stove be purchased to replace the existing unit. The bunk room is in need of a paint job. The walls are peeling and chipping, host of materials is estimated at $15.00.
