Talking to the City Water Department and suppliers of 8" water line pipe led to the estimate that the Village in cooperation with the City of Ithaca could lay this line at much less than the $6,000 figure. After consulting with the Mayor, the New York Telephone Company was informed to proceed on the original plans. The Telephone Company has agreed to give the Village a right of way for an 8" water line to the proposed location of the fire hydrant on New York Telephone Company property and agreed to allow us to construct said water line as soon as they are finished with their building construction work. B. Right of ways have been secured from Parmelee and Tallman. The City 'Water Department is in the process of changing the location of fire hydrants so that sidewalk construction can be completed. C. A Cayuga Heights Road water line at the Remington Road Bridge is sagging badly where it is suspended across the Remington Creek Gorge. Work on this line must be undertaken before break occurs. Tompkins County Highway Superintendent, Stevenson, would like to replace this bridge with a culvert and fill. If this were done, the water line could be laid in the fill. Any objections from the Board for replacing the bridge with a culvert pipe should be brought up at the meeting. • II. Sewer Lines. A special report on sewer lines will be finished and mailed to Trustees before the October 14th meeting. III. Sidewalk Progress A. To meet the demands of the property owners and in an effort to speed up completion, a contractor has been retained to replace railroad tie culvert head walls on Winthrop Drive. The cost should be $400 to $500. IV. Streets A. Patching of pot holes has been fitted into our busy schedule. More work on this will be done as soon as sewer line break repair work is completed. The asphalt and stone will be applied to the sewer line ditch as a wearing surface for Hillside Drive, Iroquois Road and Iroquois Place. Where this sewer line repair work went across the north, south streets at Highland, The Parkway and North Triphammer asphalt and concrete has been replaced. V. Sewage Treatment Plant A. We do not have manpower at present to plant 50 trees that the Board wishes to have added to our Sewage Plant landscaping. A quotation has been requested from the supplier of the trees to also plant the trees. B. Sludge circulating pump has been found to be leaking again after it was • repaired and returned by supplier. Once again has been removed and was driven to Syracuse by Village men for additional work. Engineer Report 10/7/68 Page 2 VI. Cornell University has submitted a proposed parking plan just outside the Village boundary at the corner of Jessup Road and Pleasant Grove Road. A plot plan will be available at the Village Office and at the Board Meeting. VII. Bids on the truck chassis and cab to replace our Salt Spreading Truck will be received at noon October 14 and the information will be available for Board review that evening. John B.
