PRESENT: Mayor Trustees Police Chief Engineer Treasurer Clerk Frederick G. Marcham John Bebbington Katherine Ensworth Taylor Lewis Leroy Young Lowell T. George John B. Rogers Gordon Wheeler Vera W. Snyder Forty Village residents present. Motion was made., seconded and. carried that Mayor Marcham act as Chairman and Clerk Snyder serve as secretary.of the meeting. . Mayor Marcham. reported on Village affairs for the period April 1� 1965 to date. Events of special interest to residents being briefly as follows: 1. We are now a second class, instead of a third class Village due to population increase of over 3..000 persons. 2. The County Sewer Agency is active in their endeavor to create a county -wide sewer district instead of having many small districts. 3. Our claim against the State for payment for.land taken for.Route 13 may need to go to Court of Claims for final settlement. 4. We have good cooperation with the Town of Ithaca in use of their equipment. 2/28/66 9 1 5. Fire protection is now also extended by the Village to the southern part of the Town of Lansing (Triphammer Shopping Center) in addition to protection to Northeast Town of Ithaca Water District and Forest Home. To be paid by: 1/15/75 1/15/86 1 1/1/89 8/ 1/70 1 year Engineer Rogers reported on his activities explaining the road opening permit fee of $5.00 and deposit of $100 which is returned to property owner if surface is satisfactorily restored. On completion of Route 13 the state turned over to the Village, Renshaw Road, Cayuga Heights Road and Wyckoff Road, a total of 3.7 miles which will now need to be maintained by the Village. This brings our total miles of road in the Village to 20. We have purchased a 4 -wheel drive dump,truek to use for road work as well as snow plowing. We added a sand and salt spreader to our present 1959 Chevrolet dump truck. We received $9,500 State Aid this year toward operating costs of our,-.Sewage Treatment Plant. We have extended sewer service to the Northeast Sewer District in the Town of Ithaca and to Lansing Sewer District No. 1. As Zoning Officer Mr. Rogers stated 4 requeste,6 for variances had been made to Zoning Board of Appeals, all of which were granted. The following requests were made to the Board of Trustees: 2/28/66 17 61i 1. Request'for erection. of :a gas station at 830 Hanshaw.Road:- denied. Q. ')Request to rezone-Residential District�to Multiple•Housing,District : on Pleasant Grove Road - denied. 3. Request from Cornell University to construct parking lot in Multiple Housing' District.; Zoning'changed:to:permit the.parking lot.: Chief of Police Lowell George gave his report for calendar year. There were 11 Criminal Arrests 411 Vehicle and. Traffic Law Arrests."'. ^ 287 Parking Tickets issued Y 399 Complaints .handled Report is on file in the Village Office. Police Justice,William Tucker Dean gave his. Z - •-c Fire Chief Roger Morse presented his annual report on the Fire Department. There are 60 active members in the Fire Company, 200 associate.:members. . There were 62 fires,and/or calls,'being 15 more,than: the year before.) Firemen spent 1,886 hours on active duty. This does not include time of night driver and bunkers or,of'.volunteers at informal :Sunday.morning.workout. Fire losses during the year•were light,': well under 7$1,000. Annual pump tests in'late' fall = indicated normal performance.of. :both itrucks.; The Cayuga Heights. A PUBLIC HEARING was held on March 21, -1966 at 7 P.M. in the Village Office at 194-Pleasant Grove Road to consider -the amendment of Article XI, ® Zoning - Sectioh 2 Residence District by adding Item 9. "Any cemetery ' purpose approved by the Village Board." PRESENT: Mayor Fredick G. Marcham Trustees Katherine Ensworth Taylor Lewis David Weatherby Zoning Officer. • John B. Rogers Clerk . Vera W. Snyder Representatives of Pleasant Grove Cemetery Association" Secretary - Treasurer - Clarence Mitchell Vice - President Burt Jewel Director - Ralph Mungle. Village residents: Mr. & Mrs..John Home, Mr. Mitchell explained the reason for requesting the approval of the amendment so land purchased could be used for cemetery purposes and thus enable the cemetery to sell off lots and to maintain the cemetery.
