The Mayor stated. the purpose of the neeting; narnely t.o consid.er CorneIIUniversity's apptication for a building permit for tire eonstru_ciion of acar-park. He d-escribed- the proced.ure set forth in the recent amendmentof the Zoni:ng Ord.inance. Thre Universityr he said. had paid- the appropriatefee.
Mr. Mackesey and. Mrr, Egner spoke of the universityrs need. for a car-parkand of the stud.ies whj-ch led them to d-esign the present program. To a question from the Villages asking whether the University intend.ed. to
extend- the car-park to an area approxj:natery twice as, rarge as that nowproposed-, Mr. Mackesey said. that the University had contemplated. eueh aplan but hacl mad-e no firrn d.ecision. fltre Mayor pointed. out that und.er thetenns of the new ord.inance a proposal to increase the size of the lot wor.r-Ld.have to be measured. against the terrns "size of the use, the nel.bure andintensity of the operation and" the sj-ze of the site in relation to it".The present proposal affects r/ro of the university property. A proposalto increase the use to 1/5 wourd- rai-se grave questions, in view of theordinance.
