PRESENT: Mayor Shirey; Trustees, N. A. Christensen, F. G. Mareham, T. F. Sharp, J. R. Simpson and H. H. Williams; Engineer C. Crandall; Treasurer R. E. Oliver. 1. The minutes of the meetings of April 4 and 26, previously furnished the Trustees In mimeogra6hed form, were approved without reading. 2. Boots 163:65 4/27 E51503 Kohler Man. Elec Plant 285.00 3. The Tax Warrant,was signed by the Mayor, attested by the Clerk and turned over to the Treasurer. 4. The Trustees voted approval of the action by the Mayor in the appointment of Geza V. Pall as School Guard - Part Time, at a salary of $75.00 per month, except the months of July and August, for the period May 1, 1955 to May 31, 1956. 5. The Mayor noted and the Engineer will check on the condition of the surfacing on Country Club Road, and the compliance of the Cornell Residential Club with the several points of construction and maintenance of this road, which were part of the aFreeme t of the Village with the Cornell Residential Club in taking over this road as a Pillage street. 94 6. The En.�ineor reported a desire of owner- residents to change the name of Highgate Place, and stated that he had suggested that the owners petition the/ Trustees for a change in name. This road is gravel and will be given alight oil treatment this year. There was also a request from Mr. William Murray for a "Dead End" sign at the.Highgate Road - Highgate Place intersection.. The Police Commissioner was requested to investigate and report back to the Board. The Engineer has gone over road repair programs with Town Supt. Harry Baker. Road patching is well along. The necessary road resurfacing work for later on in the summer is now being worked out. Several bad sections are on Triphammer Road and Comstock Road. SEWERS; The.first stakeout on the mains and manholes has been completed and checked with Taylor Lewis with several relocations being made due to elevations at the homes beinn.served.. SE`.+1ER PLANT: Professor Gifft is well along on plant design and T. G. Miller, Jr. has been preparing a map of the site for plant location. The Engineer has told the County Board of Health that plans should be in shape for a bond issue vote in September, with possible construction to start in late Fall. The Clerk was asked to follow -up on the letter to the State Department of Audit and Control on questions of bond issue financing. The Engineer stated that the Mitchell Multiple Housing Law required some tech- nical information to owners and inspectors for necessity of construction changes for full compliance. A.general discussion followed on various methods.of determining property owners proportionate charges for sewers and sewer plant costs, and annual operating costs. The Trustees were asked to give thought to this matter to the end of arriving at an equitable solution at the proper time. 7. The Treasurer reported a balance of $4,770.22 in the General Fund on Nay 1, 1955, and presented a bank reconciliation as of May 1, 1955 confirming this balance. It was VOTED to accept the Treasurer's.report. It was VOTED to transfer the amount of $1,514.40 from the Water and Sewer Capital Reserve to the General Fund to reimburse the General Fund for the amount spent.during the past fiscal year on the sewer project engineering and legal work. S, The Clerk had nothing to report. 9. The Police Commissioner's report for April noted 10.complaints and 9 traffic tickets. 10. Trustee Simpson reported for the Fire Commissioners. He stated that the Fire Commissioners are anxious to know the attitude of the Trustees on a permanent Fire Station building. The previous offer of Mr. Heasley of a plot of ground east of the service station has been withdrawn as this area will be occupied by a new gas station. The present gas station front section will be remodeled into a branch office of the First National Bank. Mr. Heasley has offered to give another plot, one fronting on Pleasant Grove Road just north or south of the N.Y.S. Electric & Gas pressure control station. Following discussion IT WAS VOTED to accept the offer of Mr. Walter Heasley to•give an adequate lot on Pleasant Grove Road to the Village for a Fire Station and other Village purposes. Cn the matter of building a Fire Station building IT WAS VOTED RESOLVED that the Fire Commissioners be authorized to engage' an architect to prepare plans, specifications and estimate of costs of a building for tousitk; the Fire Station, Village Office, apartment and other services. The M-Ttvor reactivated the committee of Trustee Marcham, Engineer Crandall and Clerk Randel to serve as a liaison committee with the Fire Commissioners on the thuildinR project. The Fire Commissioners hope to have the training of the Fire Company sufficiently well advanced to give the City of Ithaca 30 days notice of termination of.the fire service contract on either June l,or July 1. 11.
