IT WAS VOTED to approve the mail distribution of the City of Ithaca mimeographed policy statement on annexation to the Village residents, and the costs involved. (Copy of the City policy statement is included in the minutes of this date.) 3. Examination of the Village minutes by the State Auditor failed to disclose that the office of Police Commissioner had ever been established, although the minutes indicated the intention of the Trustees to do so under the term of "Supervisor" of the Village Patrolman. To clear this matter for the record, IT WAS VOTED RESOLVED that the Board establish the office of Police Commissioner of the Village of Cayuga Heights. 45 r IT WAS VOTED that Lowell George be and hereby is appointed Police Commissioner for the balance of the official year at.a salary rate of $150-.per year pay- able monthly. 4. The Clerk was directed to check with the Police Patrolman on his car mileage and expenses and report back to the Board at the next meeting with a recommendation on a mileage rate basis for reimbursement of his car expenses while on duty. This is in line with the recommendation of the.State Auditor, who has disapproved of the current method of payment of a fixed amount for car expense, unsupported by approved vouchers. 5. The Clerk read the letter of Treasurer Guise in which he tendered his resignation, effective August 319 1954. The Board accepted with regret the resignation of Cedric H. Guise, and wished to have spread on the minutes of the Village Board their sincere thanks and appreciation for his many years of faith- ful service to the Village as Treasurer. The following actions were taken in regard to the vacancy in the office of Treasurers • IT WAS VOTED that the salary of Treasurer be at the rate of $1200 per year, payable monthly. IT WAS VOTED that Robert E. Oliver, be and hereby is appointed Treasurer as of September-3, 1954 for the balance of the unexpired term (to April 1956) of Cedric H. Guise, resigned, at the above fixed - salary rate of $1200 per year, payable monthly. 6. Adjourned at 9:05 P.M. W. S. Randel Clerk
