MINUTES of a Regular Meeting of the Village Board held on October 12, 1954 at 7:30
P. M. at the Village Office.

1. The minutes of the meeting of.September.14, 1954 were approved as written.
2. The following bills were approved by the Trustees for payment:

3, a) The Mayor presented a request from Mrs. Mathewson for a street light
on the Parkway north of Northway Road. Action was deferred for later study when a
map of all Village lights is available.
b) Mr. Earl F. Sharp complained that Village workmen cut off small trees
in mowing his lot on Pleasant Grove Road. His complaint was referred to the Engineer
for proper direction of the Village workmen in handling.

c) The request of Walter I. Evens, Circulation Director of the Post - Standard
to put up honor boxes for dispensing the Post - Standard at 709 Triphammer, Hanshaw and
East Upland, and Cayuga Heights and Devon Roads was turned down by the Trustees.
Permission for location of one unit was given in the following action:
IT WAS VOTED to approve the location of one dispensing unit in the com-
mercial zone at the Corners Community Center, with the approval of the Corners
Drug Store, on a temporary basis for a period of six months. The.Engineer was
authorized to grant a temporary permit on this basis.
4. The Treasurer reported on the audit of the books made by.Paul Bradford
for the period March 1, 1954 to August 31, 1954. The.books and all accounts
were found to be in order. The Audit was approved by the Trustees and the Clerk
was requested to file the audit.
The Treasurer reported a balance in the General Fund on September 30, 1954
of $28,217.58. The Treasurer's report for the period ending September 30, 1954
was read and approved by the Trustees.
5. The Pond and Moyer estimate on tree pruning was discussed and
IT WAS VOTED to appropriate up to $2,000 for work on Village street trees, work
to be done as soon as possible by Pond and Moyer.under the supervision.of.Cedric
H. Guise..
6. The Police Commissioner reported on police activities during the month
of September. He noted that the Village does not have "End of Speed Zone° signs
at Village road exits as required by State law, where the exit is into a State
road.
IT WAS VOTED to authorize the Police Commissioner to purchase and erect
"End of Speed Zone" signs as required by the State Law.
7. The Clerk reported that the Town Board has taken no action on profes-
sional appraisal of Town property. They are considering a plan to abolish the
present three assessors, and establish a full -time position of combination assessor,
zoning officer and multiple housing enforcement officer, which would be an ap-
pointive position.
8. The Annexation Committee reported informally on their work to date.
One meeting was held on October 6th with the City Committee, and a second meeting
is scheduled for October 13th. Both groups have reduced their verbal positions
to written statements for study by the other group in the.hope of finding a
factual basis on which botMroups can work.toward agreement on recommendations
to their respective office% governments.
9. Two Special Meetings were called for October 19 and 22 at 7:00 P.M. at
the Village Office to complete the assessment roll.
IT WAS VOTED to send post card notices.of assessments to all property
owners.
10. The time for the next regular meeting (also Grievance Day) was set
for November 16, 1954 at 7:00 at the schoolhouse.
